Paul first became involved in performance rally by working controls on the 1971 POR.
This event was observed by the FIA prior to the rally being added to the World Rally Championship for Makes in 1972.
Having been bitten by the bug, Paul then prepared a Datsun 510 for competition and competed in the 1972 POR and many performance TSD rallies and stage rallies in the 70's.
In 1978, he and his longtime navigator won the Ohio Rally Championship.
His favorite rally was the Sunriser which in the 70's, 80's and 90’s used many of the same roads used by today's SOFR.
When not competing, Paul was working controls on rallies in Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, New York and West Virginia.
In 2012 and 2013 he was Chief of Controls on Rally West Virginia.
Paul is married to Nancy and has two grown children and three grandchildren.
